Mean Muley McGrudge
This story was written back in 1982. It was a story written for my daughter as a bedtime story. It took over 25 years to finally get it illustrated. The illustrator, Joshua McGill, is an extraordinary talent. He has the uncanny ability to get into my brain and illustrate the characters only seen in my head. Watch for Joshua's work elsewhere, he will soon be a force in children's picture book illustrations. He has been wonderful to work with and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to have Joshua illustrate my books. Synopsis Mean Muley McGrudge, as his name suggests, is without a doubt the meanest, the ugliest, and the largest creature in this enchanted forest. That is what the other animals say about Muley, although no one can say exactly why. The fierce Muley seems to be terrorizing the rest of the animals and they don't like him. At every opportunity, they make fun of him or incite him to anger. They want Muley gone from the forest. Then one day while Muley is brooding near his cave in the mountain, he spots a forest fire which threatens the lives of most of the animals. It is Mean Muley that leaps into action.
